Black In The Bay

Your Online Guide to Everything that is Black in the Bay!

Go ahead, get in to bed with your brand.

Have you ever considered a trial run on a rebrand of

your company? Not a full-out published change, but just something to test the waters.

Here's the deal. Companies make changes to their brand in order to continuously appeal to their consumer base. The goal of having a brand affair is to see how making small, or larger changes, to your brand profile through strategy sessions may help your ability to further connect with your audience. Here are a few tips on how to have an affair with your brand.

1. Take your logo out on a blind date.

Many times we see a logo that doesn't seem to fit the company it's connected to. Consider tweaking certain things to modernize your logo without having to completely change the look. Hire a designer to provide three versions of a redesigned logo. The proofs should range from very mi

nor tweaks to a complete redesign.

2. Buy your brand an expensive gift.

Shower your company with something nice. Brand a tangible item that can be used by your employees as a marketing tool while they're not at work. Try something innovative and eye-catching and ask your employees to request feedback from their family and friends.

3. Strategize your affair.

A content strategist helps you to break down the various aspects of your brand's meaning through the text that is associated with it. Before you even decide to publicly rebrand your company, you need to consider if it's even worth the time. A simple strategy session can help you determine which way you need to go.

4. Leave hints.

If you decide it's the right time to have an affair you'll want to slowly start dropping hints. Start with your employees and little by little let your clients know what's coming. Share tidbits of information, new colors, segments of new designs and "Coming Soon" newsletters and social media posts to hep guide them through the change.

5. Go public!

Let the world know you love your brand! A rebrand campaign showcasing the completion of new designs and new content will debut what you've been working so hard on. This is important for re-engaging your clients and consumers.

It's okay to have an affair with your brand. Play around with new colors, view variations of your logo and create new written content that better describes your brand's meaning. A brand affair starts with a simple strategy session. No one ever has to know!
